WEA UPWOOD

WHO ARE WE?

The Workers Educational Association (WEA) was founded in 1903 to provide educational courses for working men and women. Since those early days, the organisation has become a registered charity and offers courses to adults of all ages, cultures, religions and ability within the UK, covering the workplace and the community.

Branches are self-funding and run by local volunteers; groups choose the courses each year and arrange the publicity and venue.

The Upwood branch of the WEA has been running now for eight years during which time we have had a wide variety of courses, both evening and daytime, as well as day schools, all held in the Village Hall.   We usually have a daytime course in the autumn, day schools in the spring and an evening course in the summer.

The group cannot offer concessions on the fixed fee but free spaces are available for those in receipt of specific benefits so if you would like to join the group but feel unable through financial hardship, please do contact the treasurer, Roger Peckover, (This email address is being protected from spambots.
